BRUNO is the modern, approachable wine range created by the historic German winery Karthäuserhof, one of the oldest continuously operating wine estates in the world, with origins dating back to the 14th century and vineyard history extending even further.
The brand is named after Bruno of Cologne, founder of the Carthusian (Kartäuser) Order. The monks established the estate in the Ruwer Valley near Trier, and the name “Bruno” remains closely linked to the winery’s heritage.
While Karthäuserhof’s flagship wines focus on traditional, age-worthy premium Rieslings, BRUNO was created as a younger, more contemporary expression of Mosel wine culture. The wines emphasize:
- Freshness and drinkability
- Authentic Mosel Riesling character
- Modern branding with deep historical roots
- Excellent value for everyday enjoyment
The distinctive BRUNO label features a historic stained-glass church window that was gifted to former Karthäuserhof owners Karl Wilhelm Rautenstrauch and Kathinka Mülhens as a wedding present. The original window can still be seen at the estate today.
